CNA Classes Online

CNA classes online can provide students with a quality Certified Nursing Assistant education with the convenience of doing it at home (or elsewhere), and at a cost efficient price. Since there are no educational prerequisites to train for CNA certification, training classes online can prepare students the state exam.

In order to become a CNA, you will have to take and pass the CNA exam for your state. CNA training programs are different from state to state. In some area, CNA’s only need to take a two week course with no formal education, while other states require several months of clinical training and theory courses. However, all states require a Certified Nursing Assistant to have mastered a set of basic skills. Training may include areas like measuring vitals signs, patient care documentation, communication skills,  how to move patients,  as well as course work in physiology and anatomy.

Many who wish to become health-care professionals do not have the time or opportunity to take a campus CNA class or nursing assistant course, either because the classes arent’ offered nearby, on a schedule that they can accomodate, or at a cost they can afford.

Taking online classes can be the answer, but it also has some drawbacks. Online courses lack the live interaction with other students, trainers, and professionals. In addition, you won’t get the direct hands-on clinical exposure and practice with equipment, procedures, and patients.

Nursing Boards in some states have created extensive education programs that allow CNAs to provide advanced procedures beyond those typically assigned to nurses assistants. CNAs who go through these programs are referred to by different names including Patient Care Technician, Advanced Unlicensed Assistant, or CNA-2. CNAs with this advanced training may perform procedures such as catheter insertion or tube feeding.

These advanced certifications may be taught online, but will often require additional direct clinical training. Some online programs can help you arrange for apprentice or volunteer work at a local hospital, nursing home facility, etc., in order to get your clinical training.

CNA classes online are also a great option for individuals who have been certified before but who’s license may have lapsed or expired. Online classes make an excellent refresher course and are also ideal for those individuals that are working private duty, or who may be caregivers for love ones living at home.
