These days, it seems like you can’t get very far without a little education. It used to be that you could get a decent job if you finished high school and earned your diploma. Now it’s hard to find any type of work without at least some advanced training.
So, what happens if you fail to finish high school at all? Is there any chance of earning a decent salary and putting food on the table for your family?
CNA Training Without a Diploma
It isn’t often that individuals who haven’t earned their high school diploma get the opportunity to make more than minimum wage. Sure, there are stories of individuals who drop out of college and go on to become billionaires, but this doesn’t happen every day. Most individuals who haven’t completed their education end up working dead-end jobs without a future ahead of them.
Except in the case of CNA training.
While not every CNA training class will accept individuals who haven’t earned a high school diploma, there are some who will. If you want a career that can help you become successful, here are some steps you need to take.
- Find CNA Courses- Like I said before, not every CNA training class is designed with the high school dropout in mind. However, there are some that will accept you into their program despite the fact you don’t have a diploma. Call your state board of nursing and local colleges to see if any are available in your area.
- Take the Tests- If you don’t have a high school diploma or GED, you may be able to take competency tests for certain CNA training programs in your state. These are basic tests that evaluate your ability to read, write, and do math at a high school level. If you pass these tests, you may be able to enter CNA training without a diploma.
- Get Your GED- Most CNA training programs don’t distinguish between a high school diploma or GED: either one will work. While there are a few that may not accept your admission application simply because of the diploma, there are many more that will look favorably on your effort to earn a GED even after quitting high school.
- Earn Your High School Diploma- If you simply can’t find a CNA training school that will offer classes to you without a high school diploma, then take the time to earn yours. This doesn’t mean going back to the classroom and sitting in with 17 year olds; these days you can earn your diploma online through a variety of online schools, like pennfoster.edu and ashworthcollege.edu.
Do You Qualify for CNA Training?
Do you think you have no future simply because you weren’t able to stay in school? No matter what the reason is that you didn’t earn your high school diploma, there is still hope. Contact your state board of nursing today and find out how you can continue your education by enrolling in CNA training.
