Are you ready for your CNA training exam? Before you show up to your exam location (at least thirty minutes ahead of time,) you need to make sure you have everything with you that you will need during the exam, and nothing you won’t. Keep in mind that if you bring items that are not allowed or required for the exam, there will be no place to store them, and you will not be allowed to keep them with you during the test. This means you will have to store these items in your vehicle.

What to Bring to Your CNA Training Exam

The list of items to bring with you to the CNA training exam is not very long, but it is a critical part of taking the test. If you fail to bring these items, you may not be allowed to take the CNA training certification test; this means you will need to reschedule the exam at a later date and repay any non-refundable fees.

When taking your written or skills exam, you will need to bring:

  • Two forms of ID
  • Three No. 2 pencils that have been sharpened (Do not bring pens)
  • An eraser
  • An analog watch with a second hand

CNA Training Exam: Type of Identifcation to Bring

For the CNA training certification test, students will be required to bring two types of proper identification to the exam location. In order for this identification to qualify, it needs to be current, meaning it hasn’t expired. You will not be able to use a birth certificate as a form of identification, and one of the IDs you bring will need to be a photo ID.

Do not photocopy your ID and bring it in. Photocopies are not accepted.

What type of identification will gain you access to the CNA training test?

  • A driver’s license
  • A non-driver ID provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • A passport
  • A green card, or alien registration card
  • A signed photo ID from your high school (if you are still a high school student)
  • A signed photo ID from your college (if you are currently enrolled in college)
  • A credit card
  • A library card
  • A military ID that has been issued by the U.S. Government and includes a photo and signature

When choosing the type of ID to bring, always take a close look at the name on the identification. It must be the same as the name used on the application you submitted for the CNA training exam. If you have recently changed your name through legal means or marriage and the name of your ID differs from that on your application, contact the testing site or your state board of nursing for instructions on how to change the name on the application.

If you show up to the testing site without proper identification, you will not be allowed to take the CNA training test. The same is true for the rest of the items that are required. Make sure you know what you are supposed to bring before heading to your CNA training exam.
