Red Cross CNA Class
Red Cross CNA class training provides CNA certification via the American Red Cross. It is available in many states, and follows a nationally-recognized Certified Nursing Assistant curriculum. Course hours will vary according to the state and as such clinical requirements may be longer or shorter in a particular state. The Red Cross CNA class uses the requirements of each state.
For the Nurse Assistant Training course participant, successful course completion requires full participation in classroom and skill sessions, as well as successful performance in skill and knowledge evaluations. Due to the nature of the skills in this program, participants may be participating in strenuous activities. If you have a medical condition or disability that may prevent you from taking part in a skill session, or if you have any questions about your ability to participate fully in this course, discuss them with your health-care provider and the appropriate person at the Red Cross chapter before you start your course.
The examination consists of two parts, the Skills Test and the Written Test. The entire exam can be completed in one day and takes approximately 5 1/2 hours. The participant must successfully pass the Skills Test before taking the Written Test. The applicant is notified of the test results on the same day, and upon passing will receive the State Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification shortly thereafter.
The following are minimum requirements for all Red Cross C.N.A. participants:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Cannot have any felony convictions within the last 7 years
- Must be free of all communicable diseases
- Cannot be pregnant
- *Only in the event that your TB screening and/or background check does not clear, you will be able to receive a refund of your payment less the $35 screening fee. Once you have registered, the $35 screening fee is non-refundable
While enrolled in the program, all participants must:
- Arrive on time.
- Attend all classes, only 6 missed hours permitted, all missed hours must be made up.
- Pass final test with score of 80% or higher.
Please note that you will be responsible for transportation to both the classroom and clinical site.
Wear comfortable clothing. (Some classes involve kneeling and lying on the floor.)
Returning C.N.A. testing only: Payment in full is due 1 week prior to the date of the state exam. We are sorry, but refunds are not available. Fee for testing only is $100.
The Red Cross CNA class is ideal because it helps encourage nursing assistants to become nurses and it helps provide more time for nurses to focus on their primary responsibilities.

I am very interested in taking this course. I have had my CNA certificate for four years, but it expired in May of this year and I am only missing the exemption date by two months…now I have to re-take everything. Not only am I kicking myself, but I am trying to do it as cheaply as possible. Is there a scholarship or grant with this program? Could you please email me all of the information? Sunshine Career Institute Security Officer Course A total of 40-hours of instruction for Class “D” license training are required by the State of Florida. However, the law permits this training to be divided into 24-hours of initial training and 16-hours of follow-up instruction. Application must be at least 18 years of age having no disqualifying criminal history, and be legally allowed to work in the United States. At the Sunshine Career Institute, we offer the initial 24-hours for $75.00, 16- hour for $65.00 or total 40- hour for $140.00 of Class “D” training over a period of two days of classroom instruction after which an exam is given. Passing student will receive a certificate of proof to provide to the state when they apply for D License. Training includes all information required by the State of Florida for initial license applicants, including: Florida State Statutes Section 493 • Legal Issues and Liabilities • Basic First Aid • Fire Suppression • Emergency Procedures • Crime & Accident Prevention • other required topics. For reapplying applicants, includes all information required by the State of Florida for officer continuation training including the new mandated terrorism awareness training. In addition to lesson instruction, at Sunshine Career Institute Inc, we ensure that every student’s license application is complete and filled out properly, applications are notarized, and free finger print card and passport photo are provided for our students. Students who have completed the initial 24 hour program must return within six months to complete the 16-hour continuation training to retain their license at a cost of $65.00. Students passing the final 16 hour exam will be given proof of completion to provide to the State of Florida as required to maintain their Class “D” license. NOTE: Those with an expired license who completed their initial 24 hour course after October 1994, but never did there 16 hours course, will have there licensed suspended. Sunshine Career Institute Armed Security Officer Course Class “G” licensed armed security officers are required to complete 28-hours of classroom and range instruction in accordance with Florida Chapter 493, under the direction of a Class “K” licensed instructor. I TOOK A PREP COURSE AT A LOCAL PLACE HERE IN JACKSONVILLE, FL. AND DID’NT FEEL LIKE IT WAS VERY WORTH THE MONEY I SPENT(425.00)I PASSED THE WRITTEN BUT FAILED THE CLINICAL SKILLS PART OF THE TEST.THE INSTRUCTER SAID I COULD COME BACK AND REFRESH IF I FAILED,I HAVE TRIED TO DO SO BUT SHE SAID THEY NO LONGER OFFER THE COURSE.
NEEDLESS TO SAY I FEEL SOMEWHAT CHEATED BY THESE PEOPLE. I HAD TO BORROW THE MONEY FOR ALL OF THIS AND HAVE HAD A HARD TIME GETTING THE MONEY TO RETEST.
I CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY FOR ANOTHER COURSE. DO YOU OFFER ANY HELP TO PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF AS FAR AS RESFESHING MYSELF ON THE CLINICAL SKILLS SO I CAN PASS MY TEST?

IM a 40 yr old mother my yongest is finnaly at the age that I can go back to school. 20 yrs ago I graduated from NEC in Dallas Texas with a 4.0 GPA for medical assisting then got pregnant and never did anything with my education. Im at a point in my life where I am ready to finish what I started. I reside in El Cerrito-California.My CNA license is now expired..I can’t have it renew since its more then 2 years..I just let it pass and forgot to renew it for more then 10 years..Have been working but not in the hospital I found that I made more my working with private clients. Yes CNA was the best move I made. Can you please advise me on where is the closest Redcross that I can retake the class or maybe just the test..since I have been working all this years doing the work ..handson..please advise hope to hear from you soon..Many thanks.

I have just moved to the petersburg, VA area and i have been in the medical field for 11 yrs. I was a cna for 8 to 9 yrs then my license expired in 2006 when i had my baby. I got my papers and sent them to Raleigh since i am originally from NC. My papers were mixed up and i didnt get my license on time i am now in va i want to know if i can take only the test and skills part and i need to know about the cna class at the nearest Red Cross in Petersburg,va or at any other facilities close in the area.
