It’s no secret that after CNA training, staying healthy is key. You can’t perform your job correctly or stay on your A-game if you are dragging through your day, feeling under the weather. As a follow up to our last article on health, we’d like to bring you some information on fast food. As a CNA training graduate,  we all know your job will be demanding and is taxing on your body. You may even work split shifts, which further takes a toll on your body, –so we’re here to help, with information on fast food restaurants. Many fast food items are horrible, contribute to type 2 diabetes, serve highly over-processed food and simply make you feel horrible within a couple of hours after consumption. But what if you didn’t pack lunch? I mean, you’re busy right? Sometimes you just don’t have time to pack your lunch, –so, here is our handy list of fast food items that taste great and are pretty healthy too!

After CNA Training – Staying Healthy Even With Fast Food

Most CNA training graduates will have at least one of these restaurants nearby. Here’s the best things to order when fast food is the only option.

  • Subway’s 6” Roast Beef Sandwich – Ever since Jared came on the scene, Subway has been considered a healthy restaurant. Unfortunately, many of the meats are processed or the sub options contain hidden calories and fat. The 6 inch tuna sandwich, for instance, packs 400 calories and almost 25 grams of fat! Wow! A much better choice is the Roast Beef, Oven Roasted Chicken, or Club sandwich. Each is about 300 calories and 5 grams of fat, –but, get this: each also contains an average of 23 grams of protein! This is a good choice for the busy and fast paced CNA training graduate.
  • Arby’s Turkey Classic and Side Salad with Light Italian Dressing - Stay away from the Market Fresh menu at Arby’s. While it would seem that “Market Fresh” means healthy, there isn’t a sandwich on the menu with less than 25 grams of fat and most have over 500 calories! A classic turkey roaster contains 5 grams fat and is an extremely healthy choice for the busy CNA training graduate. Just stay away from the fries. Even their smallest size has 400 calories and over 20 grams of fat.
  • Taco Bell’s Fresco Menu – Plenty of options here! Choose from crunchy tacos or chicken burritos, –all with not more than 9 grams of fat. A steak soft taco served fresco style contains 150 calories (yes, that’s all!) and 4 grams of fat. 9 grams of protein make it a great choice. Order a side of black beans and you’ll have healthy plus fiber rich!
  • Starbucks Bistro Box - Hey, CNA training graduates! Do you stop at Starbucks every morning on the way to work anyway? Perfect! They serve a pre-prepared Bistro Box with delightful meals such as their Chipotle Chicken Wrap with whole wheat tortillas, cilatro slaw, tomoato avocado salsa and white chicken strips all joined together for a healthy meal with less than 400 calories and 29 grams of protein.

Are you ready to have more energy at work and boost your immune system? As a smart CNA training graduate, you can do this even when you forget your lunch. Just look for one of the restaurants and meals mentioned above for healthy, smart choices.
